Since this is a cumulative update, it includes all the fixes and improvements introduced with KB5014668 which was released earlier as an optional “type D” update, and another improvement impacting Windows PowerShell. With that, it also has a few known issues. Let us discuss the improvements as well as the issues before proceeding to learn how to install this update.
Fixes and Improvements
Apart from one additional improvement, all the fixes that were included in the optional update KB5014668 are a part of KB5015814. Therefore, if you already installed the previous update, only the new improvements will be included with this flight. The new improvement in this flight is that it fixes an issue that redirected the PowerShell command output so that transcript logs do not contain any content. Transcript logs might contain decrypted passwords if you turn PowerShell logging on. Consequently, the transcript logs lose the decrypted passwords. Furthermore, users will now be getting Search Highlights on their Windows 11 OS – it is a Windows feature that will show you the latest and trending news in your region right there in the search box on your taskbar.Windows 11 Search Highlights After installing KB5015814, the feature is enabled by default. You can disable it if you want by toggling the slider under “Show search highlights” (located under “More settings”) at the following path: With these improvements, there are also a few known issues with the update.
Known Issues
After installing this update, some .NET Framework 3.5 applications might experience some issues, or not launch at all. In that case, Microsoft recommends to re-install the following optional features, and the issue should be resolved:
.NET Framework 3.5Windows Communication Foundation
The issue stated above has been known to Windows 11 users for some time now, but a new issue has also risen. Microsoft suggests that after installing this update, the IE mode tabs in Microsoft Edge might stop responding when a site displays a modal dialog box – a form or dialog box that requires the user to respond before continuing with other portions of the webpage or app. If you are impacted by the issue after installing the update, Microsoft suggests using the Known Issue Rollback (KIR) Group Policy, which can be downloaded from the link below: Download Known Issue Rollback Group Policy for Windows 11 Note: The policy will need to be installed and configured.
